2008 JSRA News
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

In the summer of 2007, JSRA Club Racing was born. Open to all who could get their hands on a jetski, the fun for the "average Joe" had begun.

The JSRA, Club Racing was setup to enable anyone who was interested in racing, to get a taste of what the British Championship was like, but without having to spend lots of cash on a top of the range ski.

There were a wide range of skis racing, all ages and engine sizes were welcome. The runabout (sitdown) lineup included, a Tigershark, XLT, 1200STX-R's and more. The ski class (stand-up) lineup included a couple of Polaris Octanes, Superjet 650 and Kawasaki 750sxi's.

Last year, competitors riding under the AME Banner were Martin (The Jetski Centre Proprietor), and friends Grant, and Jez. Other locals said that they too would be joining us, but bottled out at the last minute! ....no comment!

Martin, Grant and Jez will be riding again this year, having got the racing bug. However, absolutely none of them have been out on a ski in the last few months!
So retaining their titles that they won last year will be a miracle!

OUR LOCAL CLUB RACERS
               MARTIN (aka JetJunkie)

Auto Marine - The Jetski Centre was proud to announce that Martin (Proprietor) was crowned the JSRA British Club Champion in Ski Class 2007.

Riding a stock Polaris Octane, Martin won the majority of his races and was awarded British Club Champion.

This year, Martin is looking at "just having a laugh" as work committments are taking over and time off is apparently "a myth"!

               GRANT (aka Dobby)

Local lad, Grant Rainsley heard about the Club Racing through us and decided that he would like to have a go. Grant already had a Seadoo RX Millenium and decided that he too, wanted to race a Polaris Octane.

Grant started his first moto off by riding both skis, but it was soon obvious that it was impossible to race both. The races for each class were straight after each other and he didn't have time to catch his breath between races - litterally!

Grant was awarded Third Place in the British Championship Ski class on his Polaris Octane having retired from the runabout class.

               JEZ (aka Mr Vane)

Jez Vane, our local "friendly" electrician, decided that he too would like to join in with the fun although he had only ever ridden his Kawasaki STX-R on the sea for fun (and as a babe magnet!)

Despite being a bundle of nerves on the start line, Jez won his first moto with flying colours. Unfortunately, overall points for all rounds meant that he wasn't placed at the end of the season.

All that is to change this year if Mr Vane has got anything to do with it. The Kawasaki has been sold (but will still be raced this year by another local) and Jez will be on the start line on a Kawasaki Ultra 250X!

               MARK (aka Wellsey)

Mark Wells, "father" to Junior Beginner British Champion, Ben Wells has decided that he fancies a bit of the race scene for himself.

Mark, who has only been riding jetskis for a couple of years, has decided to find out what it's all about and sample the Club Racing Mania! He'll be riding his pride and joy XP which he has only just ridden for the first time (May 2008!)

Known as The Reaper, Mark has said that he is going to "give it some" and "av it!" So, another local has fallen for the lurr of the start line!
